Powerful Explosions Near IRGC Naval Base in Bandar Abbas; Strategic Base Targeted.

BANDAR ABBAS: Massive explosions were reported on Thursday near a key naval base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran. According to local reports and video footage, the blasts occurred near Bandar-e Bahonar within the IRGC’s First Naval Zone, which is the closest military unit to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global chokepoint for oil shipments, and this naval base plays a vital role in Iran’s maritime operations in the region. While the extent of the damage is still being assessed, the explosions mark a significant escalation as the conflict enters its fifth day. There has been no official statement yet from Washington or Tel Aviv regarding the strike, but the incident has sparked fresh concerns over the safety of international shipping routes in the Persian Gulf.

The United States and Israel have launched a series of devastating strikes on Iran’s strategic naval infrastructure, targeting the primary headquarters at Bandar Abbas and the Konark naval base. Recent satellite imagery confirms extensive damage at Bandar Abbas, with high-value assets including a Makran-class base ship seen engulfed in flames. The strikes have reportedly demolished floating docks, patrol vessels, and key administrative buildings at the facility, which serves as Iran’s main hub for controlling the Strait of Hormuz.

In southeastern Iran, the Konark naval base, located near the strategic Chabahar port, also faced heavy bombardment. US Central Command identified destroyed vessels at this location as Mauj-class warships. President Donald Trump emphasized that the systematic destruction of Iran’s naval capabilities remains a top priority, with at least 10 major Iranian ships targeted so far. Meanwhile, the Pentagon confirmed the deaths of six American soldiers and 18 injuries in the escalating conflict, while Israel reported 12 fatalities.

In retaliation, Iran has threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, causing an immediate spike in global oil prices. The regional crisis has deepened as Iran launched strikes against several Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. US B-2 bombers have also been deployed to strike Iran’s underground nuclear facilities and missile depots. With the death toll in Iran surpassing 600, including both military personnel and civilians, the Trump administration has indicated that the war could last for several more weeks, not ruling out a potential ground invasion.
