Taliban Strikes Key Pakistani Military Bases Including Nur Khan Airbase; Border Conflict Intensifies.

KABUL/RAWALPINDI: The ongoing border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have escalated into a serious military confrontation, with the Taliban-led Afghan government claiming to have carried out successful drone strikes deep inside Pakistani territory. According to the Afghan Ministry of Defense, their air force targeted several critical military installations, including the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, the 12th Corps headquarters in Quetta, and military sites in the Mohmand Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Taliban stated that these “precise and coordinated” attacks were a direct retaliation for recent Pakistani airstrikes that targeted Kabul and the strategic Bagram airbase. Reports indicate that the Afghan forces utilized anti-aircraft and missile defense systems to thwart fresh attempts by Pakistani jets to enter their airspace on Sunday morning.

As the military standoff enters its fourth consecutive day, the Taliban has issued a stern warning of a much stronger response if Pakistan continues its aggressive maneuvers. The international community has expressed deep concern as the situation between the two neighbors rapidly moves toward a full-scale regional conflict. (newspress)
