R. Sreelekha Likely BJP Candidate for Vattiyoorkavu; Top Leaders Visit Former DGP.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Speculation regarding former DGP R. Sreelekha’s entry into the upcoming assembly elections has gained significant momentum following a high-profile visit by BJP’s top brass. State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar and National Executive Member P.K. Krishnadas visited her residence on Tuesday, signaling that she is the frontrunner for the Vattiyoorkavu constituency.

Sreelekha, who currently serves as a BJP councillor from the Sasthamangalam ward, recently stated her readiness to contest if the party leadership directs her. Addressing a POCSO case filed against her for allegedly revealing the identity of survivors in a video, she dismissed the charges as legally unsustainable and claimed the episode has only increased public sympathy for her. If her candidacy is finalised, Vattiyoorkavu will witness a high-voltage triangular contest between Sreelekha, Congress heavyweight K. Muraleedharan, and sitting MLA V.K. Prasanth of the CPM. (TNIE)
