In a significant shift in its regional policy, the Lebanese government announced on Thursday a complete ban on all activities by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) within its borders. Information Minister Paul Morcos stated that the cabinet has decided to “prevent any activity” by IRGC members on Lebanese territory.
The government further plans to detain these members through the judiciary to facilitate their deportation from the country.Additionally, Lebanon has implemented a new visa requirement for Iranian nationals seeking entry into the country. These measures mark a stark departure from Beirut’s previous posture as regional tensions continue to escalate.
