BAGHDAD: Seven Iraqi soldiers were killed and 13 others wounded in a US airstrike targeting a military health clinic in the Habbaniyah area of western Anbar province on Wednesday morning. The Iraqi Ministry of Defense condemned the strike as a “blatant violation of international law,” highlighting that targeting medical facilities and personnel constitutes a serious crime.
This attack follows a series of escalating strikes against Iran-aligned forces in the region, including a strike the previous day that killed 15 members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). In response to the latest incident, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has instructed the Foreign Ministry to summon the US charge d’affaires in Baghdad to lodge a formal protest. (Reuters)
