Malappuram native dies in Riyadh after inhaling toxic fumes from bathroom cleaner.

A 51-year-old Indian expatriate from Malappuram, Kerala, passed away in Riyadh after inhaling toxic fumes generated by a chemical drain cleaner. The deceased, identified as Kangkada Kadavan Ismail from Vengara Nedumparambu, died while undergoing treatment at Al-Eman Hospital.

The incident occurred at his residence in the Azizia district when sulfuric acid was poured into the drainage pipe to clear a blockage. Unaware that the acid had been used, Ismail entered the bathroom and inhaled the potent toxic gases, causing him to collapse immediately.

Despite being rushed to the intensive care unit, he succumbed to the respiratory damage on Tuesday. This tragic incident serves as a grim warning to the expatriate community regarding the use of hazardous chemicals in confined spaces.

Experts advise that when using drain openers or pest control chemicals, all residents in the building must be informed, and proper ventilation must be ensured to prevent such fatal accidents. ( Pravasi News)
