Oachira: Panchami Amma, who became a living legend by giving her name to a locality in Vavvakkavu, passed away at the age of 107. For many years, the unmarried centenarian had been living alone in a house located to the east of Vavvakkavu on the Vavvakkavu-Pavumba road.
Since she resided in what was once a desolate area and became its most recognizable resident, the locals began calling the junction ‘Panchami Mukku’ in her honor. The name eventually gained official recognition in government records. Following the news of her demise, local residents gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects and arrange the funeral rites.
