KOCHI: On the occasion of his 31st birthday, Anant Ambani has donated Rs 22.55 crore for the conservation of heritage structures and the development of nine temples across Kerala. Anant, who celebrated his birthday on Friday, had visited the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple and the Taliparamba Rajarajeswara Temple earlier on April 7.
During his visit, he announced a contribution of Rs 6 crore to the Guruvayur Temple and Rs 12 crore to the Rajarajeswara Temple. An additional Rs 4.55 crore was donated to seven other temples, including the Thalassery Thiruvangad Sree Ramaswami Temple, Kadavallur Sree Ramaswamy Temple, and the Triprangode Siva Temple. The donations, aimed primarily at renovation and restoration work, were made based on the recommendations of renowned astrologer Parappanangadi Unnikrishna Panicker.
According to Rajarajeswara temple administrator K P Vinayan, the funds will support a comprehensive project report (DPR) that includes the restoration of the ancient gopuram and the construction of a multi-level car parking facility featuring a helipad. Similarly, at the Thiruvangad temple, Rs 60 lakh has been allocated to cover the sanctum sanctorum’s roof with copper sheets. At the historic Kadavallur temple, known for the ‘Anyonyam’ Vedic event, Rs 70 lakh will be used to renovate the vilakkumadam and the covered walkway. Work is expected to commence in 10 days following approvals from the archaeology department and devaswom boards.
