CHERTHALA: Tensions have mounted in Cherthala after certain local hotels reportedly released advertisements deemed insulting to the Lord Sree Krishna Swamy Temple and the deity. In response, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organized a massive protest march, warning that the controversy would not be limited to Cherthala. Leaders stated that if deliberate attempts to mock Hindu faith continue, the organization will expand its protests across the state.
The agitation was sparked by the use of specific terminology in advertisements that allegedly wounded the sentiments of devotees and disregarded the temple’s sanctity. During the inaugural address, VHP leaders demanded that local eateries immediately cease such marketing practices and called upon authorities to take stringent action against the offenders.
The protest march, which saw significant participation from activists, was blocked by the police in front of Hotel Mehr. The organization further announced that it would call for a public boycott of any establishments that adopt similar derogatory stances in the coming days.
