Individuals involved in murder and sexual assault cases were found among those who participated in the protest held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi over the NEET exam irregularities. Reports indicate that around 2,900 people with criminal records have been identified. This was uncovered during a verification drive conducted using Delhi Police’s AI surveillance systems.
The verification was carried out using advanced technological systems, including Delhi Police’s Facial Recognition System (FRS), the Crime-Kundali database (a unified biometric criminal database launched by Delhi Police, representing a popular media format for crime detection), and lists of individuals with criminal backgrounds.
They were found to be involved in various cases across districts in Delhi, including Outer Delhi, North West, North East, East, South West, and Railways. A total of 2,873 people were identified, among whom 989 are assessed by the police to have severe criminal backgrounds.
