Pathanamthitta: Torrential rains have triggered a severe flood-like situation in Aranmula, Pathanamthitta. All major roads in the area have been inundated, and floodwaters have entered the premises of the historic Aranmula Temple, with water levels currently rising above knee-depth.
Minister P C Vishnunath and Aranmula MLA Abin Varkey visited the site to assess the situation directly. A dedicated helpline has also been set up under the leadership of Abin Varkey to assist affected residents.
Minister P C Vishnunath stated that evacuation measures are progressing systematically based on the rising water levels. Directives have been issued to mobilize fishermen from Kollam to aid in rescue operations in the inundated areas.
The minister noted a unique situation where water levels are receding in Ranni while simultaneously rising in Aranmula. He added that necessary steps are also being taken to evacuate residents from areas prone to landslides.
