CHENNAI: The anticipation surrounding Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2 is extremely high. The film, which is a direct sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, is scheduled to hit the big screens in October.
A 32-second promo of the track Ala Bolelo, featuring Rajinikanth and Shamna Kasim, was recently unveiled, with the full song slated for release on August 21. While the lyrics feature several Malayalam words, a section of netizens has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the incorrect pronunciation of the language.
The soundtrack for Jailer 2 has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while Arunraja Kamaraj penned the lyrics alongside Niranjana Raman, Aparna Harikumar, and Deepthi Suresh. The promo video shows Shamna Kasim dancing in a traditional kasavu saree and concludes with a short appearance by Rajinikanth.
Reacting sharply to the Malayalam pronunciation in the song, one social media user wrote, “Dear Tamils, please don’t include Malayalam in your songs or dialogues unless it’s pronounced correctly. Mispronouncing words, especially the ‘la’ sounds, can be really irritating to Malayalis and may feel disrespectful to our language. This is NOT Malayalam.” Another comment urged the makers to “Hire a lyricist and singer who know Malayalam.”
