DELHI: A protest erupted at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, demanding the abolition of the caste-based reservation system and urging reservation to be implemented solely based on economic criteria. The agitation was led by the Reservation Hatao Andolan.
Initially, the police denied permission for the protest but later allowed 500 individuals to assemble until 4 PM. However, when the protesters remained at Jantar Mantar beyond the permitted time, police used force to remove them.
The protest was organized following a call made through the ‘Reservation Hatao Andolan’ page on Instagram. Following the demonstrations, Delhi Police has intensified security at Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas.
