MALAPPURAM: The police have filed an application in the Manjeri court seeking custody of the accused arrested in the largest MDMA seizure in the history of the state. The police have requested four days of custody for the accused.
A 26-member special investigation team formed under ‘Operation Toofan’ is investigating the case. The police had seized 12 kg of MDMA, valued at approximately ₹10 crore in the market, from the accused’s car in Manjeri.
The key operatives with Coimbatore links were caught during the follow-up investigation of an earlier case where six persons were arrested with 97 grams of MDMA. A comprehensive investigation is underway into the incident.
