KOLLAM: A young couple, who had chosen to live together despite strong opposition from their families, were found dead in Sasthamcotta Lake in Kollam district on Sunday in an apparent suicide, police reported.
The deceased have been identified as Abhirami (19) and Rajeev (26). According to the police, the couple reached the lake on Saturday evening and are believed to have jumped into the water. Their bodies were recovered on Sunday morning.
The two had been in a relationship for a long time and had recently started living together. Their relationship had previously drawn familial objections, prompting police intervention after family members filed complaints. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
