The bodies of a woman aged around thirty and a five-year-old girl were found discarded in three sacks along the banks of the Bhavani River at Cheerakkadavu in Pudur, Attappady. Forensic examinations revealed that the bodies were approximately five days old and had been floating in the water. The victims’ throats were found slashed using a mechanical tool or machine.
Having gathered crucial leads in the case, the police have launched an intensive manhunt focusing on the husband, a migrant worker. According to preliminary information, a migrant worker along with a woman and child were seen in the locality a few days ago, and they are currently missing.
The recovery of the bodies inside Biryani rice sacks available in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, along with the text printed on these sacks, has proven to be a major breakthrough in the investigation. The bodies were folded at the waist with limbs bound together and wrapped in plastic before being stuffed into the sacks.
Police strongly suspect that a single person could not have executed such a gruesome crime alone, pointing to the involvement of multiple perpetrators. A rigorous probe is underway focusing on the Tamil Nadu border and gathering details on missing persons.
