In the shocking image morphing case at Thrikkakara Bharata Mata College, the investigation team will take the accused, S. Srihari, into custody on September 7 for detailed questioning. The police have submitted an application before the Kakkanad Judicial First Class Magistrate Court seeking a five-day custody period. Once custody is granted, the accused will be taken to various locations for evidence collection.
Although it has been found that teachers’ photos were morphed and misused, no evidence has been retrieved so far regarding the morphing of classmates’ pictures. However, it has been discovered that original photos of certain female students were posted on Telegram with inappropriate captions.
Investigators examined whether there were financial motives behind the crime, but no such evidence was uncovered from his bank accounts. The accused’s mobile phone and laptop have been handed over to the Cyber Cell for detailed examination.
Since the Telegram groups used for the crime have been completely deleted, retrieving the lost digital data poses the primary challenge for the investigation team. A special team led by Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner C.K. Bijoy Chandran is investigating the case.
