Thiruvananthapuram: In an ironic turn of events, Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph experienced a power outage while addressing the state conference of the KSEB Officers’ Federation. The incident occurred at a time when the state is facing a severe power crisis and unannounced power cuts, leaving consumers distressed.
Although the interruption forced him to stop his address temporarily, the Minister handled the situation with humor. Standing in the dark, Sunny Joseph remarked, “The KSEB officials here know exactly when I should wrap up my speech,” drawing laughter from the audience.
Meanwhile, the Minister clarified that the board has been forced to impose power restrictions in multiple phases due to a sharp rise in electricity demand. He noted that the state is currently facing an additional demand of over 1,000 MW compared to the same period last year. The Minister added that he has already held discussions with the KSEB Chairman to find an immediate resolution to the ongoing crisis.
