Sreekariyam Student Murder: Three Accused, Including an 18-Year-Old Woman, Arrested; Post-Mortem to Be Conducted Today.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have formally arrested three individuals in connection with the tragic murder of a 17-year-old Plus-One student whose body was found stuffed in a sack in an abandoned plot in Sreekariyam. The victim, Abhiram, was the son of local auto-driver Madhu and Dharmaja, residing on rental premises at Netaji Lane, Sangeetha Nagar, Pangappara. His body was discovered around 5:00 PM on Monday near the Peroor Anganwadi in Pangappara.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Umar (23) of Sreekariyam, an 18-year-old ITI student and friend of the victim named Anantha from Manacaud, and another 17-year-old minor. The minor has reportedly confessed to the crime. According to Umar’s statement, he was summoned solely to assist in disposing of the body. Investigators also revealed that the perpetrators attempted to lure another friend of the victim to the spot by phone, but the individual sensed danger and stayed away. Police noted that Umar has a history of multiple criminal cases against him. Abhiram’s mother and sister currently reside abroad.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a dispute over a relationship with the female accused triggered the murder. According to police, the suspects used the girl’s Instagram account to chat with Abhiram and trap him into coming to the location. The victim was strangled with a belt before his body was packed into a sack and abandoned in the vacant plot.

The post-mortem examination of Abhiram’s body is scheduled to be conducted today.
