Thiruvananthapuram: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a protest march to the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, accusing the Congress of attempting to create unrest outside the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi. The BJP’s state-level protest march to the KPCC office is scheduled to take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday. BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar will formally inaugurate the demonstration.
Stressing the boundaries of democratic rights, Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated, “Protests are natural in a democracy and it is the right of every citizen without a doubt. However, violent protests do not constitute democracy. Anarchy is not democracy, nor is breaking the law democracy. At the same time, it is the duty of every citizen that those who break the law in a democracy are held accountable. Law must always prevail over anarchy.”
Meanwhile, the Congress party demanded an immediate debate in Parliament regarding the alleged police atrocities against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and other Members of Parliament. Congress MPs Shafi Parambil, Kodikunnil Suresh, and Benny Behanan submitted adjournment notices in the Lok Sabha seeking an urgent discussion on the matter. Additionally, MP Hibi Eden gave a notice demanding a detailed discussion on the police action against protesting students.
