Malayali Nursing Student Dies After Jumping From College Building in Marthandam; Family Alleges Harassment.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Malayali nursing student who jumped from the building of a private nursing college in Marthandam has succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Ansiji (21), a native of Kathippara in Neyyattinkara. She passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. She was a third-year nursing student at the college.

Her family has alleged that severe and continuous mental harassment from the college management and teachers drove her to take the extreme step.

Ansiji had jumped from the top of the college building functioning at Karungal in Kanyakumari district the other day.

The critically injured student was initially admitted to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara and later shifted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, but her life could not be saved. The body has been moved to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital mortuary.

A few months ago, Ansiji along with other students had protested against the poor quality of food provided in the college hostel.

Following the protest, the management expelled the protesting students from the hostel, forcing them to reside in private accommodations outside. Her parents stated in their complaint to the Karungal police that the teachers and management continued to mentally harass the students even after the incident.
