A Facebook post by producer Anto Joseph detailing an overwhelming fan moment for Malayalam superstar Mammootty in Tamil Nadu has gone viral. Anto Joseph shared the incident that occurred while returning from the shoot location of Mammootty Kampany’s new film in Karaikudi.
The journey of Mammootty and his team was interrupted when the highway was blocked at Thirupathur. Finding no success even after relying on Google Maps and preparing to turn back, a local youth arrived as their savior.
The local resident, Pandyan, recognized Mammootty inside the car and stepped forward to help. Sharing a video, Anto Joseph wrote on Facebook that the youth guided them for nearly 10 kilometers on his motorcycle.

It was past 3:30 AM.
We were returning to Kerala from Karaikudi, the shoot location of a new film produced by Mammootty Kampany and directed by Jithin Laal. Driver Unni, George, Ramesh Pisharody, and myself were in the vehicle.
The highway was blocked at Thirupathur. Google Maps redirected us through various routes multiple times, but to no avail. Nearly an hour passed. A frustrated Mammookka said, “Let’s return to the room in Karaikudi; the road might open tomorrow morning.” George agreed, and Unni turned the car around.
Pisharody and I looked at each other. All of tomorrow’s plans were ruined. There were no other travelers or vehicles on the road to seek help from.
We spotted a petrol pump at a place called Pattamangalam. A young man was sleeping inside a mosquito net; he suggested a few routes, but many of those were paths we had already tried and found blocked. Another person who was sleeping a short distance away walked over and asked, “Are you Malayalis?”
He then peered inside the car… excitement and wonder covered his face, and his sleepiness vanished instantly. “Are you Mammootty Sir? Follow me,” he said. He guided us on his bike for nearly 10 kilometers through routes even Google did not know.
“Go straight to Kerala from here,” he pointed.
A truly good human being. “If he tells anyone tomorrow that he met Mammookka at dawn and guided him, will anyone believe him?” asked Pisharody.
Mammookka stepped out of the car, took the man’s phone, handed it to Pisharody, and embraced him tightly.
“What is your name?” “Pandyan.”
Pisharody, who had come along to discuss matters related to Mammookka’s ‘Care & Share’ initiative, remarked: “We must share his care, Anto Chetta. Let Pandyan become Pan-Indian.”
