LUCKNOW: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Monday officially accepted the resignations of its general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Dr. Anil Mishra amid the ongoing fierce controversy over the alleged Ram Temple donation theft case. The major decision was taken during a crucial high-level meeting of the Trust. Following the discussions, Trust Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri formally announced that fellow trustee Krishna Mohan has been appointed as the officiating interim general secretary in place of Rai. Both Rai and Mishra had submitted their resignations on June 27 following widespread allegations regarding the embezzlement of donation money.
The newly appointed interim general secretary, Krishna Mohan, is a 74-year-old former Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer and the RSS’s Kshetra Sangh Chalak for eastern Uttar Pradesh. He was brought into the Trust in September last year following the unfortunate demise of founding trustee Kamleshwar Chaupal. Notably, it was Krishna Mohan who lodged the official police complaint that eventually led to the registration of an FIR against eight named accused in the alleged donation theft case. All eight individuals have since been arrested by the law enforcement agencies and remanded to judicial custody. Govind Dev Giri added that the Trust is scheduled to meet again on July 22 to finalize the appointment of a brand new trustee.
To streamline administrative efficiency, the Trust has also constituted a dedicated three-member committee tasked with recommending qualified names for the crucial appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to strictly oversee day-to-day operations. This panel comprises former Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Pramod Kohli, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Vishnukant Chaturvedi, and well-known industrialist Suresh Haware. In an official statement issued directly after the conclusion of the meeting, the Trust highlighted that it had successfully completed the construction of the grand Ram Temple in less than six years after the body’s initial formation back in 2020.
According to the official financial data shared by the Trust, it has successfully received a massive sum of Rs 3,264 crore through various extensive donation drives and voluntary contributions since its absolute inception. Out of this total collected pool, a sum of Rs 2,370 crore has already been spent on core temple construction and related infrastructural works. The statement further added that the distinct religious offerings received at the temple till March 31, 2026, totalled Rs 582 crore. Out of this amount, Rs 391 crore has been utilized towards managing routine temple operations, while the remaining surplus funds have been safely deposited across various banks. The Trust concluded by stating that its comprehensive financial audit details have been periodically and transparently shared with the mainstream media networks.
