BHAVNAGAR: A frightening wild animal attack in Garajiya village of Bhavnagar district’s Palitana taluka on Monday left a local Maldhari youth injured after he was pinned to the ground by an adult lioness for nearly half an hour. During the sudden assault, the wild lioness knocked the victim, identified as Parmar, flat onto the ground and held him down securely by placing one of her powerful forelegs directly across his upper body. Instead of repeatedly biting or mauling him to death, the animal largely remained seated right over him, occasionally gripping his arm firmly with its jaws while strategically preventing him from getting back up on his feet . A live video footage capturing the entire incident has gone viral across multiple social media platforms, documenting the incredibly rare and extremely tense moments where the helpless victim stayed trapped beneath the predator, fighting to keep himself completely composed to save his life.
The viral footage explicitly highlights Parmar making absolutely no sudden or aggressive movements, choosing instead to gently pat the ferocious lioness in what deeply appeared to be an instinctive and desperate attempt to keep the predator calm . Within minutes, a large group of local villagers completely surrounded the spot, collectively shouting at the top of their lungs and throwing heavy stones in repeated attempts to frighten and drive the wild animal away into the bushes. However, despite the intense commotion, the stubborn lioness outright refused to move or abandon her spot for several dangerous minutes . Following the rescue, angry local residents alleged that they had repeatedly alerted the regional forest department authorities regarding frequent and unchecked lion movements inside their village over the past several years. The local community has now raised a strong demand for immediate and effective security measures to permanently prevent such dangerous human-animal encounters in the residential zone.
