IDUKKI: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old student from Anakkara was brutally assaulted by his classmates in Thodupuzha, Idukki, suffering severe injuries to his private parts, after he reported their drug use to college authorities. The victim was pursuing a mobile and laptop servicing course at the Grandis institution in Thodupuzha.
After noticing three students frequently abusing drugs in the hostel, the victim captured video proof on his mobile phone as instructed by his teachers and handed it over to them. However, the teachers merely questioned the accused students and let them off without initiating any strict action. Upon realizing that it was the 19-year-old who had reported them and provided the visuals, his classmates gang-attacked him and severely damaged his genitals.
Although the Thodupuzha Police arrested one individual in connection with the attack, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and released with his parents as he was a minor. Meanwhile, the police are yet to register cases against the other two youths involved in the assault.
