The committee explained that confirmed astronomical calculations indicate that the crescent moon will set on Tuesday, February 17 (29 Sha’ban), before or at sunset across all governorates of Oman. Since a visual sighting will be scientifically impossible on that day, the month of Sha’ban will complete its full 30-day cycle on Wednesday, February 18. Consequently, the fasting month of Ramadan will commence on Thursday morning.
On this blessed occasion, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs extended its heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the people of Oman. With the official date now set, authorities have also outlined reduced working hours for both public and private sector employees to observe the month of reflection and spiritual growth. https://www.muscatdaily.com/2026/02/11/ramadan-to-begin-in-oman-on-thursday-february-19/
