US President Donald Trump announced that American forces conducted a massive bombing raid on military targets located on Iran’s strategic Kharg Island. Describing the operation as one of the most powerful in the history of the Middle East, Trump stated that while military installations were targeted and destroyed, he intentionally ordered that the island’s vital oil infrastructure remain untouched for the time being.
He further warned that this restraint would end if Iran continues to interfere with the free passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media confirmed that more than 15 explosions were heard on the island following the airstrikes, though they maintained that the oil terminals are still functional.
