In a significant development for the NDA alliance, Twenty20 has withdrawn two of its high-profile actor-candidates, Lakshmi Priya (Perumbavoor) and Veena Nair (Ettumanoor), after discovering their names were missing from the official voter list. Despite having voted in previous local body elections, their absence from the current list forced the party to name immediate replacements.
Jibi Pathickal, a prominent member of the Jacobite Syrian Church management, will now contest from Perumbavoor. In Ettumanoor, the party has fielded 25-year-old Carnatic musician and entrepreneur Athira D. Nair, making her the youngest candidate in the NDA camp.
Twenty20 chairman Sabu Jacob also announced new candidates for Pathanapuram, Muvattupuzha, and Punalur, including ex-serviceman S. Anil Kumar and farmer activist Sunny Kaduthazhe. (TNIE)
