CHAVARA: In connection with the birth anniversary of the Jnanpith Award-winning legendary poet O N V Kurup, ‘ONV Jayanthi’ celebrations will be observed on May 27. Extensive commemorative events will be held at the poet’s ancestral birthplace, ‘Nambyadikkal’, in Chavara under the auspices of the ONV Birthplace Memorial Committee. Prominent figures from cultural and literary fields will attend the function, which commences at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27.
The morning session will begin with floral tributes and poetry recitals. The meeting will start with a prayer song rendered by Athmaja G.S., followed by a welcome address by Anil Mukhathala. Chavara K S Pillai, noted poet and Chairman of the ONV Birthplace Memorial Committee, will preside over the function.
Following this, a special presentation titled ‘ONV Paattum Porulum’ (ONV’s Songs and their Essence) will be delivered by poet and retired All India Radio Deputy Director, Shri Sreekumar Mukhathala. The keynote address will be jointly delivered by renowned orator and retired M.G. College Principal, Dr. Ajayapuram Jyothishkumar, and noted music critic, Shri T.P. Shasthamangalam. Panchayat Member Shri D. Sunil Kumar will propose the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
