SASTHAMKOTTA: The BJP Sasthamkotta Panchayat Committee staged a protest march and a sit-in dharna at the Grama Panchayat office, demanding the immediate resignation of the CPM-led ruling council. The political agitation breaks out in the wake of an ongoing financial scandal where a temporary project assistant, who is also a local DYFI leader and CPM local committee member, allegedly misappropriated Rs 30 lakh from government funds. BJP State Committee member T. R. Ajith Kumar officially inaugurated the protest gathering.
Addressing the protestors, T. R. Ajith Kumar claimed that a temporary employee could not execute a financial fraud of this magnitude without the active connivance of senior leaders within the CPM and DYFI hierarchies. He alleged that the accused, who secured his job through a backdoor appointment as a party nominee, might have shared the embezzled money with political bosses to maintain his patronage. The BJP leader demanded that the local administration department immediately implead the complicit oversight officials and the Panchayat President as co-accused in the criminal case.
The protest meeting was presided over by the BJP Panchayat Committee President, Ramachandran Pillai. Several senior regional leaders spoke during the demonstration, including BJP East District Vice President Baiju Cherupoika, Sasthamkotta Mandalam President Dhanesh Pulinthanam, and Minority Morcha East District President Binoy George. Other prominent party functionaries such as Poonthottam Sathyan, Aatupuram Suresh, Thayyil Rajendran, N. Omanakuttan Pillai, S. Sunitha, Kallada Das, Mini Sivaraman, Adv. T. Kalesan, G. Sasikumar, Nalini Sankaramangalam, K. V. Srinivasan, Radhakrishnan, Rajeev Kumar, Sunil Kumar, and Kiran Parthasarathy also addressed the gathering.
