OACHIRA: A tragic road accident involving a head-on collision between a private bus and a car at Prayar in Oachira resulted in the loss of one life and left ten others injured. The deceased has been identified as Amrutha (27), wife of Rajan from Melathil house, Nilamel in Kodumon. The fatal crash took place around 6 PM today on the Oachira-Ayiramthengu road, just east of the Prayar bridge.
Four other passengers travelling in the car sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Karunagappally. The injured car occupants include Amrutha’s mother-in-law Padmavathy (60), wife of Mohanan; Archana (24); the deceased woman’s two-year-old daughter Miloni; and the car driver Samson (29), son of Thomas from Kulathingal house in Mundakayam. Medical authorities stated that the condition of the toddler, Miloni, remains extremely critical.
Additionally, six bus passengers who sustained notable injuries in the impact were admitted to the Parabrahma Hospital in Oachira for medical attention. The injured bus commuters are Leelamani (50) from Arun Nivas, Clappana; Pooja Biju (18) from Thottathil, Vaikom; Padmakumari (50) from Poomukhathu, Prayar; Shaija Beegum (44) from Vallattil, Clappana; Najeeb (65) from Plamkeeghil, Clappana; and Rajani (34), a native of Adinad. The mishap occurred when the Swift car, arriving from the Azheekkal side, rammed into the private bus which was operating its routine service from Oachira to Karunagappally via Vallickavu.
