Saudi Arabia has renewed its condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting civilian and vital infrastructure, including a power generation and water desalination facility in Kuwait. In an official statement issued on Saturday, the Saudi Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Iran’s continued attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, expressing the Kingdom’s full support for the defensive measures taken by the three nations in response. Meanwhile, two US service members were killed in action in Jordan on July 17 while US Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces responded to Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, the command confirmed. CENTCOM further stated that one additional American service member is currently missing in action following the heavy bombardment.
Four American service members were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan following the attacks. They have since been discharged from medical care, while other personnel assessed for minor injuries have successfully returned to active duty, CENTCOM said. The command added that further details, including the identities of the fallen service members, will be withheld until 24 hours after their next of kin have been formally notified. The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Iran and the United States exchanging heavy strikes as the conflict continues to expand across the Middle East.
