Karunagappally: In a heart-wrenching double tragedy, a housewife was found dead in a canal, and just hours later, her ailing mother also passed away in Vallikavu near Karunagappally. The deceased woman has been identified as Sandhya (50), residing at Shivasandhya. Her body was recovered on Wednesday morning from the TS Canal near Kattilkadavu after police and fire force personnel arrived at the scene to retrieve it.
Following the recovery, the body was shifted to the Kollam District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, at around 1:00 PM on the same day, Sandhya’s 80-year-old mother, Bhasura, passed away. She had been bedridden with age-related illnesses for a long time. The funeral rites for both mother and daughter will be conducted on Thursday at 4:00 PM on their residential premises. Sandhya is survived by her husband Vijayan and children Ankush and Akshaya. Bhasura was the wife of the late Shivadasan, and she is also survived by her son Shivajith.
