Kannur: A shed belonging to T. Purushothaman, a supporter of Payyannur MLA V. Kunhikrishnan, was allegedly set on fire by unidentified miscreants in Payyannur, Kannur. The attack targeted the shed situated near Purushothaman’s shrimp farm late last night, completely gutting the structure. Following the incident, Purushothaman alleged that former MLA T.I. Madhusoodanan was behind the attack. The police have launched an official investigation into the matter.
Purushothaman claimed that a deliberate explosion occurred inside the shed located adjacent to his shrimp farm, as windows and structural parts were blown away by the impact. He asserted that such severe damage does not happen during a routine fire and alleged a deep conspiracy behind the act. He further revealed that he has been receiving continuous death threats on social media platforms.
Earlier, miscreants had also attempted to set fire to Purushothaman’s car parked in his house courtyard due to his political support for V. Kunhikrishnan. A major tragedy was averted at the time as his family members woke up promptly and doused the flames. Purushothaman is a former DYFI district leader and nephew of the late CPI(M) Kannur district secretary T. Govindan. Having previously left the party due to factional feuds, he had later returned to the party fold.
