Karunagappally Prepares for Onam Rush: Key Decisions Taken to Smooth Traffic Flow.

Karunagappally: In view of the heavy festival rush and traffic congestion during the Onam season, a high-level meeting chaired by C.R. Mahesh MLA adopted key measures to streamline vehicular movement and ensure pedestrian safety in Karunagappally. The meeting was attended by local body heads, secretaries, officials from Revenue, Excise, Police, PWD (Roads), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and representatives from the national highway construction contractor Vishwa Samudra Company.

It was decided to urgently complete the stalled drain construction at High School Junction to restore smooth traffic flow. The contractor was directed to arrange necessary space for temporary parking and pedestrian movement in completed construction stretches.

Adequate crossing facilities will be provided at all key junctions along the National Highway stretch from Oachira to Karunagappally. Service roads will undergo immediate repairs to make them fully motorable. Additionally, the Municipality will run continuous awareness broadcasts from Pulliman Junction to Lalaji Junction to guide drivers and pedestrians.

At the Grama Panchayat level, continuous anti-drug and alcohol drives will be organized, supported by intensified raids and checks by Excise and Police personnel. Special police patrolling will be deployed at key holiday destinations including Azheekal Beach and Vellanathuruth during the festival season.

Strict legal action will be taken against vehicles illegally parked along the sides of the National Highway. Furthermore, it was decided to shift the temporary construction dividers inward to widen and clear the service roads for public travel.
