Karunagappally: A massive search operation is underway in Karunagappally for 12-year-old Bilal, who went missing on Saturday evening. Following CCTV visuals showing the boy near the banks of the Kannetti backwaters, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local authorities have launched an extensive search in the waterbody.
Bilal, a Class 7 student at Karunagappally Welfare School and resident of Padanayarkulangara South, had returned from school on Saturday evening and went out to play with his friends. When he failed to return home past 6:00 PM, his father Naushad began searching for him.
During the search conducted by local residents, Bilal’s bicycle and his jersey were discovered abandoned near the banks of the Kannetti backwaters.
CCTV footage retrieved from cameras installed along the backwater banks and municipality roads captured Bilal riding his bicycle alongside a friend. Fearing that the child might have accidentally fallen into the water, search operations are currently progressing in full swing with the assistance of NDRF and Fire and Rescue teams.
