ARANMULA: Melukara and Kotthathoor Palliyodams emerged victorious at the Aranmula Uthrattathi Water Regatta. While Melukara bagged the top spot in the ‘A’ Batch category, Kotthathoor Kaithakkodu lifted the prestigious Mannam Trophy in the ‘B’ Batch finals. This marks the second consecutive Mannam Trophy win for Melukara and a historic hat-trick achievement for Kotthathoor. The grand spectacle of snake boats on the waters of the Pamba River generated double the excitement among spectators this year.
In the ‘A’ Batch finals, Melukara along with Koipuram, Mallappuzhassery, and Edasserimala East Palliyodams crossed the finishing line in 4 minutes and 33 seconds. Melukara secured their second consecutive spectacular win by a margin of mere microseconds.
In the ‘B’ Batch, Kotthathoor sealed their hat-trick victory by outpacing Vanmazhi, Thottappuzhassery, and Mangalam Palliyodams in the finals.
Amidst loud cheers from the banks and the overwhelming rhythm of Vanchippattu, the winners received their trophies from Palliyoda Seva Sangham officials. The winning teams returned singing traditional songs, expressed confidence in repeating their success in the coming years.
