NEW DELHI: A multi-story Paying Guest (PG) accommodation building collapsed in the Satya Niketan area of South Delhi on Sunday afternoon. Several college students residing as guests in the building are feared trapped beneath the debris.
The Delhi Fire Services received an emergency call regarding the collapse at around 1:33 PM. Teams from the Fire Department, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local police rushed to the site to initiate rescue operations. So far, two students have been rescued from the rubble and shifted to a nearby hospital.
Local MLA Anil Kumar Sharma stated that trapped students have been attempting to reach out via phone calls from under the debris, indicating that more people may be stranded. The Chief Minister has directed the Emergency Response Team to expedite the operations, while MP Harsh Malhotra and senior administrative officials are on-site monitoring the rescue efforts.
