ALAPPUZHA: The decomposed body of an ex-serviceman was found inside his residence in Mankombu. The deceased has been identified as Viji Santhosh Kumar (56), hailing from Vengaloth House in Kannadi, Pulinkunnu. Yesterday evening, local residents noticed a strong foul smell emanating from the house and alerted the local Panchayat member. The Pulinkunnu police subsequently arrived at the scene, broke open the house, and discovered the body in an advanced state of decomposition.
According to locals, Santhosh Kumar was last seen in the area on August 8. Due to domestic issues, his wife and children had been residing separately at her parental home for a considerable period. His mother, Ponnamma, used to stay with him until two years ago when she moved to his sister’s house in Chengannur, where she passed away two weeks back.
Relatives stated that Santhosh Kumar had returned to his Pulinkunnu residence after attending his mother’s last rites and meeting his wife and children. The body has been shifted to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital mortuary. He is survived by his wife Rajani and daughters Saritha and Sithara.
