THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain warnings across the state have been revised due to the influence of a low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. While isolated heavy rainfall was predicted earlier, the updated forecast issues special weather alerts for all districts today. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a strong possibility of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall across Kerala. An Orange Alert has been sounded in six districts—Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod—where severe downpours are expected in isolated places. All remaining districts have been placed under a Yellow Alert for heavy rain. However, the weather department expects the rainfall intensity to weaken by tomorrow (Wednesday), on the day of Thiruvonam.
Tomorrow, the likelihood of isolated heavy rain remains limited to Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts, where a Yellow Alert has been issued as a cautionary measure. Meanwhile, the low-pressure system continues to persist over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Jharkhand and North Odisha.
