ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is currently hosting high-level negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, aimed at stabilizing a fragile ceasefire and easing the broader regional conflict. Following the arrival of the Iranian delegation in the capital, the Pakistani government has characterized the summit as a “make-or-break moment” for Middle Eastern stability. These talks follow a stark warning from US President Donald Trump, who stated that airstrikes could be intensified if no permanent agreement is reached.
However, the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah continue to pose a significant challenge to diplomatic efforts. While Israeli and Lebanese officials are scheduled to meet at the State Department in Washington on Tuesday, Israel has clarified that a ceasefire with Hezbollah is not currently on the table. Conversely, Tehran has maintained that progress in the Islamabad talks is contingent upon reaching a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, alongside other key preconditions.
To ensure comprehensive global coverage of the event, the Pakistani government has established a state-of-the-art media facilitation center at the Jinnah Convention Center. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar informed reporters that the facility provides high-speed internet and various free services for both local and international journalists. Additionally, dedicated shuttle services have been arranged to transport media personnel between the center and major city hotels to ensure seamless reporting on the developing situation.
