Highlighting the housing sector, the CM announced that five lakh houses have been completed under the LIFE Mission project, providing secure homes for approximately 20 million people. Additionally, under the ‘Punargeham’ project for fishermen, 2,782 houses and 738 flats were handed over. He also noted that 4,56,689 families received title deeds (pattayam) over the last decade, and a permanent solution was found for long-standing land issues in Idukki through legislative amendments.
The Chief Minister marked the eradication of extreme poverty as a milestone achievement, stating that 64,006 families were rescued from the grip of extreme poverty. He claimed that Kerala is one of the few regions globally to achieve this status. He also discussed the ‘Protection of Single Hearth Act,’ which was introduced to prevent poor families from losing their only shelter due to bank attachments on small loans.
Addressing women’s welfare, the CM mentioned the scheme providing ₹1,000 monthly to homemakers as recognition for their labor, which currently benefits over 16 lakh women. He assured that this number would increase in the future. The progress report, presented on behalf of the LDF, aims to showcase the developmental strides made by the state government over the past five years in particular.
