A young man set fire to a house in Kaniyapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, after his relatives refused to give him money to buy ganja. The accused, identified as Faisal, is the nephew of the house owner, Ameena. According to reports, Faisal reached the house of Shajahan and Ameena on Wednesday evening and demanded money.
When they refused, he created a scene and threatened to burn the house down. He also attempted self-harm by cutting his wrist, following which the Mangalapuram Police shifted him to the Medical College Hospital.
However, after being discharged, he returned to the house early in the morning and set it on fire. Fortunately, the family had already moved to a relative’s house due to his earlier threats, avoiding a major tragedy. The police have taken Faisal into custody. (KN)
