No Longer ‘Kerala’, It Is Now Officially ‘Keralam’: President Approves Bill to Rename State.

NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu has given her official assent to the bill renaming the state from ‘Kerala’ to ‘Keralam’. Both Houses of Parliament had earlier passed the bill.

With the President’s approval, the state’s name will officially be recorded as ‘Keralam’ across all government records moving forward. As part of this transition, official documents, central and state administration systems, and signboards will update the name in a phased manner.

Even in the English language, ‘Keralam’ will be used instead of ‘Kerala’.
