Thiruvananthapuram: High drama unfolded at the Pothencode police station as a 15-year-old girl created a scene, demanding the release of her 28-year-old friend. The girl kept the police personnel on tenterhooks for nearly half an hour by assaulting the Sub-Inspector and pelting stones at the station. Eventually, her parents were summoned, and she was shifted to a mental health center. Police suspect that the girl is addicted to drugs.
The incident occurred around 10 PM on Wednesday. The drama began after a police patrolling team took a 28-year-old man, listed as a known offender (rowdy list), into custody while he was roaming around near a local bar. Shortly after he was brought to the station, the girl rushed in and started creating a commotion, demanding her friend’s immediate release.
Since there were no female police officers present at the station at that time, the personnel were unable to physically restrain her, and she allegedly assaulted officers, including the Sub-Inspector. As the situation escalated, female officers were brought in from the Vattappara police station to control her. After summoning her parents, she was admitted to a mental health facility around 2 AM.
