Thiruvananthapuram: Unannounced power outages across Kerala have sparked a wave of satirical AI-generated memes on social media, targeting Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Power Minister Sunny Joseph. A video showing an AI-generated Chief Minister dancing to the hit track ‘Ala Bolelo’ from the upcoming Tamil film ‘Jailer 2’, surrounded by KSEB employees, has gone viral.
Created by Thrissur-based content creators Abijith K.S. and Akhil Nellikkal for their Instagram page ‘AI Kavala’, the video amassed over 1.7 crore views within just two days. Other viral clips feature the Chief Minister dancing to popular tracks like ‘Appadi Podu’ alongside Power Minister Sunny Joseph. Responding lightheartedly at an event in Kochi, Satheesan remarked that his AI avatar appeared to dance better than top film stars.
While opposition groups have dubbed the power outages with satirical names like ‘Pookie Cut’ and ‘Indira Cut’, content creators highlighted that such AI memes serve as a modern form of political protest. Meanwhile, netizens have also begun resurrecting older social media posts by Congress leaders, including Satheesan and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, where they had previously criticized the former LDF government over power disruption issues.
