Strike Delay Could Last ‘Two or Three Days’ or ‘Forever’ if Iran Deal Reached, Says Trump.

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said on Monday he called off a planned military attack on Iran scheduled for Tuesday after the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates urged him to hold off as “serious negotiations” were underway.

President Donald Trump told the New York Post he is “not open” to concessions to Tehran and that Iran’s leaders “know what’s going to be happening soon.”

Iran’s updated proposal for a deal to end the war is not a meaningful improvement and is insufficient for a deal, Axios reported citing a senior US official. The US will have to continue the negotiations “through bombs” if Iran won’t shift its position, the US official was quoted as saying.

The US has spoken of establishing a development and reconstruction fund to meet Iran’s war compensation demand, the IRGC outlet Tasnim reported citing a source close to the negotiating team. The US has also agreed to release 25% of Iran’s assets and waive oil sanctions during the talks, the report added.
