Thrissur: Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi announced that the Union Tourism Ministry has officially sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 80 lakh to showcase Kerala’s rich traditions and cultural celebrations with greater prominence on the global stage.
The central government has allocated Rs 20 lakh for the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, Rs 25 lakh for Pulikali, Rs 20 lakh for the Aranmula Uthrattathi Boat Race, and Rs 15 lakh for the President’s Trophy Boat Race. In a social media post, the minister highlighted that the Union government has assured robust backing for the iconic festivals and boat races that form the bedrock of Kerala’s cultural heritage.
“The Union Ministry of Tourism has officially sanctioned financial aid of Rs 80 lakh to present our traditions and celebrations before the world with greater glory. Our fame needs to echo across the globe. Financial assistance has been allocated to our pride festivals: Nehru Trophy Boat Race (August 22) – Rs 20 lakh; Pulikali (August 29) – Rs 25 lakh; Aranmula Uthrattathi Boat Race (August 30) – Rs 20 lakh; and President’s Trophy Boat Race (November 1) – Rs 15 lakh. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Narendra Modi government for its care in bolstering Kerala’s tourism sector and these mega events. The Central Government is with us to uplift our culture and festivities,” Suresh Gopi stated.
