The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a plan to officially bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The Cabinet has also agreed to sign the necessary agreements and provide funding to the Gujarat government if the bid is successful.
The city of Ahmedabad has been chosen as the host city. It is considered an excellent choice because it has world-class stadiums and training facilities, along with a strong sports culture. The Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest, has already proven its ability to host major events, like the 2023 Cricket World Cup Final.
If India wins the bid, the games will bring athletes from 72 countries to India, along with coaches, officials, tourists, and media. This will benefit local businesses, create jobs, and generate revenue.
Hosting the games would also have a positive long-term impact on the country. It would boost tourism, and create job opportunities in various fields like event management, sports science, and media. Most importantly, it would create a sense of national pride and encourage a new generation of young people to take up sports as a career.
