DOHA: Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a safety advisory for campers, seafarers, and the general public operating near the country’s oil and gas installations and energy infrastructure. The Ministry directed all individuals to strictly maintain designated safety buffer zones to ensure the protection of vital national energy assets and prevent industrial accidents.
The directive was issued by the Ministry’s General Directorate of Industrial Security. Authorities reminded the public not to ignore warning signboards, restricted zones, and safety guidelines installed near oil and gas installations, processing hubs, and transport pipelines.
According to the guidelines, mariners, boat operators, and individuals engaging in offshore maritime activities must maintain a minimum distance of 500 metres from all offshore oil and gas facilities. A mandatory safety clearance must also be maintained around onshore transmission pipelines and associated distribution stations.
The Ministry urged desert campers, beachgoers, and sea enthusiasts to strictly adhere to instructions issued by competent security authorities.
Compliance with safety regulations around critical energy sites is essential for protecting the public, safeguarding site personnel, and mitigating operational risks. Such precautionary measures also prevent accidental damage to the state’s strategic energy infrastructure. Consequently, individuals taking part in recreational activities across desert, coastal, and marine areas must pay close attention to warning signboards and strictly follow official safety advisories.
